THE ART OF TRANSFORMATION

A story without a single word.

Metamorfózy invites you to listen to transformation. A musical idea returns in a new light: a different orchestral colour, a different tension, a different perspective. The title itself becomes a simple key to listening.

The symphonic variations were composed between 1951 and 1953. They are part of Suchoň’s orchestral output and the family catalogue also records a piano version.

You need no knowledge of music theory for a first encounter. Simply notice an idea that catches your attention and try to follow it through its transformations. With each return, the full orchestra offers new shades of sound.

A GUIDE FOR YOUR FIRST LISTEN

What to listen for

  • Choose a short motif and try to recognise when it returns.
  • Notice the difference between the sound of individual instruments and the full orchestra.
  • Listen to how the mood changes with tempo, rhythm or tone colour.
